Hey, I’m Sharyph.

I’m a creator and digital strategist. Over the past 18 months, I’ve:

  • Grown my audience to 75K+ followers on X (Twitter),

  • Sold 700+ copies of my $49 course,

  • Built multiple digital products and services—without ever picking a niche.

That’s right.
No hyper-specific niche.
No “choose one thing and stick to it forever.”

Yet somehow, I’ve built a business, a brand, and an audience that buys.

Why?

Because I focused on something more powerful than a niche:
The Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).

In today’s newsletter, I want to challenge the traditional “find your niche” advice—and show you a better path.
This path will provide you with clarity, freedom, and genuine online success.

Let’s dive in.

Outline of this post:

  1. Why “Finding your Niche” is Outdated

  2. The Power of Knowing Your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)

    1. Prompt to get your ICP

  3. What To Do…After You Know Your ICP

1. Why “Finding Your Niche” Is Outdated

If you’ve spent any time in the creator economy, you’ve probably heard this advice:

“Pick a niche. Niche down. Stick to one thing.”

It’s the golden rule, right?

But here’s the truth no one tells you:
Most people pick a niche too early—and end up boxing themselves in.

They choose a niche based on what’s trending, not on their strengths.
They try to be “the productivity guy” or “the crypto girl” because that’s what the algorithm rewards.
They burn out, get bored, or worse—stay stuck talking to people they don’t even want to serve.

And here’s the kicker:
The niche-first model assumes you are static.

But you’re not.
You’re growing. You’re evolving. Your skills, interests, and experiences are expanding every month.
Why would you build a brand that forces you to stay in a single lane forever?

That’s where most creators go wrong.

Instead of asking, “What niche should I be in?”
You should be asking:

“Who can I help with the skills I already have?”

And that flips everything.
You don’t need a narrow niche. You need a clear Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).
Once you know who you’re helping, the what becomes flexible.

And the best part?
You can tailor your content, offers, and brand around real people with real problems Instead of trying to make yourself fit into a random box.

Up next, I’ll show you how to build your ICP—using a mix of your own experience and a little help from AI.

2. The Power of Knowing Your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)

Let’s be real: It’s hard to create content, offers, or even a bio when you don’t know who you’re talking to.

That’s why having a clear Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) is a game-changer.

Your ICP isn’t just a vague “target audience.”
It’s a detailed profile of a specific type of person who needs what you offer.

Think:

  • What stage of life are they in?

  • What are they struggling with right now?

  • What goals are keeping them up at night?

  • What language do they use to describe their problems?

When you know this, everything becomes easier:

  • Writing hooks that resonate?

  • Creating offers they want to buy?

  • Growing an audience of future buyers?

And here’s the best part:
You don’t have to guess.

You can actually build your ICP using AI.
You can generate a clear customer profile, including demographics, pain points, desires, and more, with this prompt. I use ChatGPT for this.

Here’s a prompt:
